A Christmas Weekend...

We had quite the Christmas-y weekend! We started it out with decking our house out with Christmas lights on Saturday and then going to the East Wenatchee City Lighting Ceremony.
Then today we put up the tree and decorated it. Then we headed out to Leavenworth to get our annual new ornament for each kid and to watch the lighting. It was so great! We spent about 3 hours in Leavenworth (which is much more than our quick stop at the candy shop and just watching the lighting and then leaving which only takes about 20 minutes). We took our time, wandered around, enjoyed Santa and the festivities, and then left. I have to add that I was so proud of the city of Leavenworth. After my previous blog about how embarrassing our state was in allowing that ridiculous display to be put in front of our capital, I was made proud tonight;
The city has been in the spotlight plenty of the past year...being featured on Good Morning America, The Discovery Channel, and the Home and Garden Network. You'd think in all of that publicity, it would want to conform to be politically correct...especially with it's growing numbers of visitors from far and near. HOWEVER!!!...The town crier made a big speech and ended it with "GOD BLESS you and GOD BLESS America!" I was intrigued with this but it was a small crowd and was mostly locals. BUT THEN...during the actual lighting with hundreds gathered, the mayor INVITED a local pastor to come to the podium. He prayed over the town, the people, the celebration, and then stated that the reason for the season...a baby boy, born to a virgin...Christ our Savior. I was tearing up....such a blessing to witness in times like these...
Here's some pictures of our weekend...a picture of the house will follow as soon as we purchase our last extension cord ;)
