100 Day Project

Ethan has to make a project out of 100 things for his 100th day of school. So what better project than a bug box of 100 beetles? He's very proud of his bugs. I spray painted lima beans and he drew faces on each and every one of them....(well....some of them are just scribbles....). Then I spray painted a shoe box and he glued coconut to the bottom that we dyed green, to be their grassy home. Finally we glued the bugs down and poked "breathing" holes in the box. Very fun!

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Two more Ethanisms:
This morning Ethans TA walked up to me at school and pulled me aside chuckling to herself. She said "I just had to tell you...when we were telling the kids about the canned food collection we will be doing, Ethan raised his hand. Then he told us "I won't be able to bring any cans...we don't have any money." Haha! Perhaps he has been hearing too many conversations around here about the hefty mechanic bill we are facing this week that started under $600 and over the past week has progressed to ballpark around $3500! That definitely has sparked those kind of conversations around here! LOL

THEN, after picking up Ethan, we went to Costco and the nicest looking man was in the lane next to us checking out...but wouldn't you know that he didn't have a nose...?! So Ethan, not understanding the situation...decided that the man must be doing something pretty funny to hide his nose like that...so he just points and laughs hysterically showing everyone in our lane the man with the missing nose. Luckily we were just far enough away for me to be able to subdue him with a few quick hisses his direction, but I know the man noticed the pointing. Poor guy...he took it with a smile, though.

It's The Thought That Counts...

Ethans' class is collecting canned food as a 100 day project at school for local hungry families. So what does he do? His servanthood little heart decided to put some oranges (that have been needing to be thrown away) and spotting bananas into his backpack to donate to hungry families.

Baby Love

The kids had the pleasure of sitting in on a photoshoot today with friends who just had a baby 6 weeks ago. Chezney was in awe by the whole process and by the little bundle of pink that blessed our home today...

You're not truly complete without...

I let Ethan play with my camera a little bit and suddenly he decided that the one thing I'm truly lacking in life is a picture with a balloon. Soooo....at his insistence- he supplied me with one. LOL. What a goofy kid!

How Much Tissue to Blow One Nose?

I told Cohen to go get me a tissue to wipe his nose....he grabbed a square of toilet paper and walked all the way to me....
without tearing it off the role.

He then decided it made a good "road" and proceeded to "drive" on his "road" over and over and over.

Funny Flashback

I was telling this story to my mom the other day and decided it was worth the flashback...
One day in the car, when Danissa was about 4 years old, we were talking about how BIG Earth is.
"No...Seattle is not the other side of the world."
So from this point, I started trying to explain how big the world was...and how big the sun was...and how many Earths can fit into one Sun.
At the end of this very layman-termed conversation, she looked at me and said "So what your saying is....it's bigger than a stop sign."
Um...I think this discussion is over...we'll save it for a couple years from now.

Children of the Nations

Today I got the privilage of watching my church come together in volunteer-hood to help package 80,000 meals for the hungry. I loved watching my kids make cards to give to the children, and being able to get their hands on something that would become greater than themselves. What an easy and simple way to make a difference! Here is a few pictures of the mornings activities:
An overhead shot of the teams at their tables working...

Ethan was supposed to write "Jesus loves you" on the card...LOL

Danissa with her grandma "Cafeteria Cheryl" ;)

The whole first group (there were two shifts)with the first 40,000 meals done...

All the ingredients and then funnel that gets them easily into the bag to be sealed and shipped...

Stinky Eyes

I was in the bathroom getting ready to head to the church this morning when Chezney walks in:
"Mommy...I have stinky eyes."
"You have stinky eyes?"
"Ya."
Chezney then proceeds to use the step stool and climb up onto the bathroom counter, opens the medicine cabinet, and gets out my deodorant. She then removes the lid and applies the deodorant to the inside of her elbows.
Apparently her eyes don't stink anymore...

Family Cookin'

The other night we had Almond Chicken for dinner, which requires a three step dipping process and then a fourth step which allowed us to break in our new deep fryer that we got for Christmas. The kids had a blast helping prepare the chicken for daddy to cook...
