Favorite Things 2

I never want to forget the way my babies hands feel when they hold my hand. Even in their toddlerhood, their hands are pudgy and warm, and hold tight. Cohen fell asleep holding my hand today (as usual) and I just had to take a picture, since I know it's one of those little things he'll outgrow and I'll probably soon-after, forget. Then I decided to add a quote which I think was very cute and fits me perfectly ;)
Just another one of my favorite things...warm, pudgy, tight holding hands.

Fever Confusion

When Chezney had a high fever last week, she was asleep in my bed next to me when Mike got home. She started to wake up a little when he came in the room, so I said "Look Chez! Look who is home!"
She lifted her head with some effort- and still groggy- looked at Mike and said "Santa?" and then fell back asleep.

You Love Jesus Anyway

Ethans attention span is not the best at school and he seems to be getting in more and more trouble this year from being distracted, lack of paying attention to the teacher, or failing to follow directions. So today I told him that if he didn't get his initials on the board, he would get a surprise after school.
Low and behold his name was not put on the board and so after school, I swung by 7-11 to let him pick out a pack of gum.
As we approached the counter, Ethan explained to the gal at the counter that he was getting a prize for not getting his initials on the board. I looked at her and said "Because he's getting a prize for that, you can guess how often he gets his initials on the board..." She smiled and asked Ethan what school he goes to. He replied "The River Academy Christian School." She responded by saying "Well, that's a good school..." so Ethan asked if she went to that school, too. She informed us that she went to Lincoln. "Is that a Christian school?" Ethan asked. "No." she replied.
"But you love Jesus anyway." Ethan informed her, pointing to heaven, and walked out to the van.
You gotta love kids.

The Lop That Didn't Know

Our Holland Lop is supposed to look like this....

but maybe someone forgot to tell her that she's a Lop...because she looks like this...

This is why Danissa is actually not participating in 4-H as we had planned...After researching Lops that don't lop...I found that our bunny is disqualified by 4-H standards. Bummer.

The Silhouette

There was a jpeg image of a mans silhouette on my computer. It's a head shot...shoulders and up....no detail. The background is a light grey and the silhouette is a darker grey.
Ethan climbed up to the computer and as soon as he saw the picture, he said "Hey! That looks like me!....He has ears!"

Okay...last I checked about 99% of the human race has ears.

Then he went on to say "...and shoulders...and hair (which this silhouette was actually bald...)."

Yeah Ethan...it looks just like you....

A Snowy/Rainy Day Visitor

He flew in and then found refuge in our fake decorative tree. We opened a door and some windows and shooed him out with little effort, but I have to say I was sad to see him go.

Swing Boy II

One of My Favorite Things

One thing I love: Warm, wet kiddos fresh from the tub, curled up in their towels.

Just Plain Weird

I don't give the kids milk and night, and I am not a fan of giving a kid milk when they have a fever. I just imagine it curdling in their stomach and coming back up at 102.8 degrees. Yuck.
So when I woke up to a feverish Cohen throwing an absolute fit in the middle of the night and all he wanted was a glass of milk...I had to pause. Finally after a bit of trying to distract him from the idea of milk, I conceded and gave it to him, which he guzzled as quick as he could and went to sleep.
Mike and I just thought it was the weirdest request. So imagine our surprise when a feverish Chezney wakes up the very next night throwing a fit for a glass of milk? I think this cold is the "I want milk with my fever" cold!

Sick

Cohen got sick yesterday, and sure enough, Chezney has the same thing today...and she's taking it harder than he is...
Cohen has more of the fever, congestion and cough and slightly labored breathing, and Chezney just has a high fever.

Scrapbooking

My mom, aunt, cousin, sisters, and I all went scrapbooking for the weekend. We stayed in this fun cabin...it looks small from the front but you actually are walking into the loft, and then there is a spiral staircase that leads to the main part of the house downstairs. It was so relaxing and fun!!!

It started to snow when we were there and we woke up to WHITE. Soooo beautiful!

A "just for fun" pic...

Wart Removal...or Not

I just realized that I never blogged this story (it happened maybe two weeks ago) and to me...it's definitely worth the blog.
I was walking down the hallway when I smelled something that was just yucky...and familiar. Coming around the corner I saw Chezney and Cohen sitting on the edge of my bed and Chezney was holding wart remover (we had been burning a wart off Ethan) and was APPLYING it to Cohen.
After the initial shock and freak out of what they were doing, and after I washed all the wart remover off, I found the humor in the situation. You see...she wasn't just putting it on wherever she saw fit. She was trying to "remove" his nipples!
That's a pretty smart two year old, I think!

New Years Eve

Best spot in the house...I love the look on her face!

Drummer in Training (pants that is)...

Where is my sister and who are you?

Mal...you know that your not the one with the mic, right? ;)

Jam'in Out with our groupies

The kids celebrating the New Year at midnight!

Then Ethan crashed....

Looking back: Snow Day

My sister and brother-in-law spent New Year Day with us sledding and then we went to their house and played Guitar Hero through the evening and late into the night. It was a lot of fun but I just never got a chance to blog it...so here it is!

Cathy and I got into a snowball fight and of course...had to take a picture because I think that's the only time I've ever seen a snowball in her hand... ;)

Mike, Rianne, and Isabella hitting a snowy bump...

Ethan wrapped himself around a tree so I just had to capture the moment!

Orsey

Cohen has a stick horse that he got from Isabella for Christmas. This morning he wanted to take it in the car with him, which I let him do...informing him that when we got to daycare, it had to stay in the car.
I climbed into the car to buckle Chezneys seat belt and as I crawled out of the car, I bumped Cohens horse. Cohen looks at me, dead serious, and says "Mommy...you hurt-ing my ors-ey."
I'm sorry Cohen.

Baby Powder-ed

Guess who?....

Look at that guilty face....

Sleepover...party of 6....

Breanna and Rianne came over to stay the night last night and of course the twins wanted to be apart of the action...so all 6 kids hunkered down in sleeping bags in the livingroom and had a gigglefest till about 10:30 last night and resuming at about 6:30 this morning...

Jingle Bell

Chezney has a pair of Tinkerbell pajamas that she didn't really start wearing till December even though we've had them for quite awhile. I'm guessing that because of the time frame of her fascination with these particular pajamas explains why she calls them her Jingle Bell pajamas =)

My boys

Today Ethan won a plastic ring out of a toy vending machine at the dentist office. Later on in the day, the ring sadly was vacummed up while I was cleaning out my car. Ethan got back in the car after school and noticed the ring missing. His sad face reflected his dissapointment as he informed me that this ring was going to be his wedding ring someday when he was grown up and now he doesn't have one.... ;)

The kids saw the lights on Mission Ridge and I teased them that it was the "ghost light" from one of the short clips on the movie CARS. Cohen and Chezney both are now calling it the "sheep light"...I'm not sure where this comes from...but Cohen is scared of it. It makes me laugh =)

Cute Conversations

Cohen has a tendency to take everything said to him and repeat it as a question. It's time consuming in a conversation with him, but just plain cute. For example, if I were to say "Cohen, dinner's almost ready.", he would reply in his broken-up-syllable-way "Dinn-er al-most rea-dy now?". I just love it.
In conversations, Chezney does something cute, as well. If someone tells her that she's not doing something, she replies very stubbornly "Yes, I ARE!". You gotta love it.

If I Were A Lion

We own a book titled If I Were A Lion. The book cover has a little girl roaring at a lion, with a lion roaring back at her. It's a catchy rhyming story about a mom who calls her daughter "wild". The daughter goes on to say "I'm not wild! If I were a wild I would be like a lion. I would roar and have sharp teeth, etc. etc." If you pay attention to the illustrations throughout the story, the crayon drawings on the wall get more and more elaborate as the story goes on...as if the girl continues to write on the wall as she sits in "time out".
The thing that cracks me up is Chezney calls this book "the Chezney book". She loves this book and I think it fits her well....

S.P.O.R.T. Gym

Over Christmas break, I have had a few days that I could devote to just being with the kids...taking pictures...playing games...hanging out. I miss that so much and it makes me remember how deeply I wish I could be an at-home-mom. It just breaks my heart.
One of the things we were able to enjoy on this break was the free-play gym time at Sport Gymnastics. The kids love it and I enjoyed having time with them to be active, have fun, and get some fun pictures (Danissa opted to have a day to hangout with grandma instead of come to the gym with us, so she is not in the pictures, however she did go with us a different day when I did not have my camera).
