A Childs View

Ethan got out of bed saying he felt like he needed to throw up. This is just a typical thing Ethan says to get out of having to go to bed--
So, Mike told him he would bring him a bowl and to get back into bed. Mike got out a colander and brought it to Ethan. "Hey!" Ethan said, "then it will break!" Mike asked what would break. "My throw up...it will break and get all over me!"...
...Funny how kids explain things....

Conversation at 3:00am

Mike: "Joy?"
Me: "What...?"
Mike: "Why do I have Chezney?"
Me:".....you have Chezney?"
Mike:"...yeah....did you bring her to me?"
Me: "uhhhh....no."
Mike: "hmmm....well....I woke up and she's sleeping on me...."

I was wrong

We didn't get ANY sleep last night. However, it wasn't for the reason I had thought. I had forgotten to take into account the fact that Cohen hates change. Every time we move his bed, he goes through about 3 nights of screaming. It has been so long sing we did any type of change (for that reason) that I had forgotten till about half way through the night, I just couldn't figure out what was wrong and why I couldn't calm him down. *lightbulb* duh! Oh well...in three more nights I'll hopefully be restful!

Or...is there....?

Continued from the previous post....

No more sleep to be had at the Farr household

Cohen had his leg over the edge of the crib and was grunting at Chezney to follow. He didn't actually attempt to get out of the crib until Chezney was willing to climb out with him...

And who follows suit of her little brother? Chezney was sure to follow....

Pony Sneezes

My home has been full of fevers, sneezes, sniffles, runny eyes, and sore muscles for over a week now. My poor family! But I have to say...there are some funny times. Cohen has a sneeze that will make you just melt. It's so cute! I wish I could just sit with a video camera waiting to capture a sneeze. He huffs and puffs and finally has this tiny sneeze followed by a VERY LONG lip vibration that sounds like a pony. I wish I could show everyone. Just wet/purse your lips...and let the air out with your lips vibrating....then picture that coming after a sneeze...and lasting about 5 seconds. LOL... it is so cute!
(now I want to know how many actually were doing this as I explained it!) =)

Pictures

My picture sessions are starting to pick up and now that I finally have my new camera, I am loving it! I just got to do a couple sessions this past week and it felt so great to get going again! Here's my favorite from this last tummy session...

Speech Meet

Danissa recited a poem, "Wind on the Hill", at school today for her schools speech meet. She has been so timid and in tears over having to recite it and in front of her whole class, three judges, and parents. Today, she took a deep breath when they called her name, walked to the front, and did a fairly fantastic job considering...and she took home an "excellent" ribbon. 7 kids in her class got red excellent ribbons and 3 received "superior" ribbons. I'm just so proud of her...what a HUGE accomplishment for my little shy girl...!

Ethans B-Day $

Ethan got some money for his birthday from his Uncle, Aunt, and Cousin S.'s, and one set of his Great step-grandpa and grandmas. I thought I'd share what he decided to buy...and his happy dance with it. LOL...I could have upped the shutter speed to stop the blurriness, but I thought it was kind of explaining how fast he was moving! LOL

He got the gun (actually...2 guns) a belt complete with two gun holsters and a belt buckle, and the cowboy hat! He was so excited!
Thanks G & G S./B., and The S.'s! And to all of our family for making his day fun and special!

Praising God

Today while Danissa was getting ready for school:
Danissa: "Mom...does it make you sad when your kids are gone at school all day?"
Me: "Yes...it does....but that's just part of what is best and what we need to do."
Danissa: "Well...I bet it doesn't make you tooo sad. I mean...at least you know we're praising God..."
Awwww!

Poor Cohen

Cohen has a few issues. Like his issue with water. He's okay as long as he is in control and it doesn't touch his face. If it touches his face, he'll be clawing to get out of the tub for a month before he settles down again. Textures are an issue. He's okay with one, normally...but if you get him confused with a couple different textures, he freaks out. Any bad experience that he might have, simple as it can be, can make doing that same thing again more difficult next time. And so it happened today...
He's never gone potty on the toilet. He's sat on the little plastic one but has never gone, and the big real one is too cold and it terrifies him. Well...today, he said he needed to go poop (which can mean poop, fart, or pee). I put him on the potty but didn't scoot him back so his little thingy would be pointing into the bowl (because he never actually goes...). Well..today he went pee all over the floor and shot himself in the leg and was shaking and screaming. We'll see if he EVER gets on that thing again....

God is Fire

Recently, our church has been going through a series entitled "Fresh Fire", and focuses on the Holy Spirit. We just got slight confirmation that Danissa actually does listen during the service when she said that she would rather our house be on fire than for things in our house to be broken.
That didn't really make any sense so Mike asked her what she meant. "Well.." she said, "God IS fire!"
Whether she understands it or not is another matter....

Oh...yeah....

Ethan got a tent from my brother and sister-in-law for his birthday. He REALLY wanted to sleep outside in it TONIGHT, instead of in the living room. The conversation on the way home from the party went as follows:
Ethan: "Dad...it says right here on the box..."You cannot use this tent inside! It will rip it!""
Dad: "Ethan...it doesn't say that. Stop lying to me."
Ethan: "I'm not lying dad. It really does say that right here on the box."
Dad: "Ethan...you can't read."
Ethan: "Oh...yeah........."

Sad/Torn Heart

My heart is just broken...even though I know it's just a little boys conversation..today Ethan just made me sad. He drew a picture of me (apparently I'm an octopus...) and then a picture of a baby octopus with it's mommy. He said it's him with no other babies. Just him and his mommy. This comes from a boy that acts out and has full days of horrible attitudes if he doesn't get his fill of attention. We can see a difference in him according to 1) how much sugar he's had... 2) how much attention he hasn't had... and 3) how much sleep he is lacking in.
He said he loves his sister (Danissa) but not the babies...I shower this boy with attention every chance I get, just to help his day be a bit better...but then on top of it for him to say he hates the babies just breaks my heart. He must resent them and the attention they take away but we already try to give him that time so much... I just don't know how to stretch it much more without making the others feel left out. His "love languages" are obviously time and touch...because this child can't get enough. Funny for how violent he can get....

Hanging Out

Ethan went to help out at the orchard yesterday (my dads cherry orchard in Mattawa). Ethan was climbing trees the whole time they were there, and at one point, got caught with a tree limb in the back belt loop of his pants. He just dangled there from that tree calling for help. Dad said that another worker went and got Ethan down...how funny...I can just see my little Huck Finn dangling there from his pant-loop *LOL*

Praying With His Eyes Shut

Ethan's teacher had to tell me something funny he did on Wednesday. Apparently, he was on his way to get a tissue when the class began to pray. To not be disobedient, he shut his eyes tight...felt his way to the tissues,...blew his nose...felt his way across the room to the garbage can...felt his way back to get the disinfectant,...sanitized his hands...and then felt his way back to his spot in the circle....ALL with his eyes shut. He was bound and determined to pray I guess!

Flashback

My mom reminded me of this one...
All of our kids have somewhat significant middle names. Since there wasn't any particular middle name for Chezney, we wanted Danissa to have the chance to give her sister a name. She decided she wanted to name the babies Snowflake and Rose-Flower (I'm assuming Cohen was Snowflake...). So...we took the first normal name she said, which was Abby...since Chezney Abby was too many "y's", we decided on Chezney Abigale.

The Loaves And the Fishes OR the Donuts And the Juicebox

Mike bought 2 donuts today...one in super bright pink frosting and one in bright blue frosting: one for Danissa and one for Ethan. So after school we broke out the donuts and sent the kids outside with them (cutting off a sliver for the twins, too). Ethan had a neighbor boy playing with him.
Later this evening, Mike asked Ethan if he had broken his donut and shared it with Andrew. "No" came the probable reply...so then I said "Ethan...next time, find out if we have more to share, and if not, share the one you have." Mike followed this up with "That's what Jesus would do..." LOL...so I said "ACTUALLY...Jesus would have taken his ONE donut, fed a thousand people with it, and then had 10 barrels of donuts left over...". Then Mike followed up with "and a juicebox for each one, too!" Mike and I both laughed at this and then Ethan just looked at us like we both had completely lost it... LOL

Sick

I am sick...when I get a head cold, it hits pathetically hard.
Anyway, I got up this morning, sniffling, groggy, head feeling like a bowling ball...and Ethan comes over, gives me the teddy bear he's been snuggling the past few weeks, puts a little tooth fairy pillow behind my head, and tells me I can keep them until I feel better. Then he kissed my arm and walked off. What a sweet boy....

Speaking Like Moses

You know your kid gets a lot of bible thumping when they start to speak like Moses....
Danissa was talking about when they came to visit me in Leavenworth this weekend. The beginning of her story started out: "Well, when we went forth to Leavenworth..."

Poor Mike

I've been gone scrapbooking since Friday and I have to say...Mike is a pretty good sport. Normally he just stays home for the entire weekend I'm away and mellows out with the kids. This weekend has been busy and he has juggled all five of them fairly seamlessly and with little sleep. Kudos hubby!
